Happy Birthday Mom

The party was a go and mom was completed surprised. We threw mom a little reverse surprise party for her 50th birthday. She thought she was just going out with Aunt Carolyn, Uncle Bill, Aunt Cindy, Uncle Barry & Dad. She arrived at the destination at 6 and thought nothing of it as they sat and had a drink and grabbed some pizza. Everyone else was instructed to start showing up at 6:30. Aunt Mary Jo was the first there, but mom didn't think much of it since Aunt Cindy was there. Gary, Jessica and I were frantically trying to get there for the actually surprise part (leaving Brighton at 5 and having to drive across Hall Rd. is a nightmare any time but even worse when you have somewhere to be). I was quite surprised that we were the next ones threw the door. Jessica had a bunch of balloons and Gary had the cake. As soon as we walked through the door it dawned on mom what was up. Of course she started crying and saying she didn't want a party, but a milestone like 50 deserves to be celebrated. Soon after everyone else came rolling through the door, and with each new person it was like a surprise all over again. We enjoyed some pizza and then a few games of shuffle board.

Playdate

On a spur of the moment all my girlfriends were free this weekend so we had a little get together at our house. I had been telling Aiden all morning that the babies were coming to play. As soon as he heard baby he went to his room and pulled out the two bins of baby toys. Once they were here it was a different story. Being the biggest for once had it's advantage and the pharase "that's mine" was said quite often. At one point he took his Lightning McQueen and locked it in the dog cage so no one could get it.

Nap time already??

It's very rarely that Aiden falls asleep mid morning. Aiden was having a cranky morning and asked if I would put Cars on. I had a pile of laundry calling my name so I put the DVD in while I finished up folding. When things got too quiet I went to check on him, this is what I found.

I guess it doesn't matter what time of day it is, sometimes we just need a little nap.

Winter Wonder

We got some snow last night, this morning it was beautiful out. Not too cold and the sun was shinning. I thought it would be a good day to go play in the snow. I dug around for something to cover this baby bump and got Aiden all dressed. From the moment we stepped outside Aiden started to cry. The sun was reflecting off the snow, so he cried. He couldn't walk in snow suit, so he cried. I went to the car to get his mittens, so he cried. We did swing on the swings a bit and go for a little sled ride. I think all in all it took us longer to get ready then it did to play. After all that crying it was time for a nap...

When Mom is away....

I ran to the store tonight to pick up a few things. I was gone a total of 30 minutes at most. When I got home there was a little surprise for me...

From the mouths of babes....

This morning when I asked Aiden if he was ready to change his diaper and get out of his jammies his reply was...

"Go wash your hair momma"

Where the heck does he get these things??

Toothbrush

One of Aiden's favorite things in the whole world lately is brushing his teeth. He'll ask to brush his teeth atleast 6 times a day. I hate to say no since it's such a good habit, but it feels like we spend half the day some days in there brushing. I have to sneak going to the bathroom now because if he knows someone is in there then it means another teeth brushing. Honestly I think he just likes the toothpaste!

Happy Birthday to.....

ME!

The big two-seven today! I spent most of the day in my jammies watching cartoons with a sick kid. I guess once you become a mom some things are more important. Gary took me to dinner last night since he had a meeting tonight, well wouldn't you know the meeting was canceled and I had no plans for dinner. So birthday dinner was McDonalds, exciting huh? I did sneak off for one of my favorite things, a bath! I even had a Lush bathbomb stored away in the closet for a special occasion. I've been putting off using it b/c of the mess it would make, but what better night for a confetti bathbomb than your birthday. I have a tub to clean now, but that can wait until tomorrow.

You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in.
You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising.
You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.

What Gary Means

You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in.
You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising.
You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.

Winter Zoo Trip

Saturday was sunny and the temperature was about 39 degrees so we took a trip to the zoo. Papa, Aunt Jessica, Uncle Tony, David and Kyle came along too. Some of the animals weren't out but Papa did some snooping around and got us into the buildings the animals were in. It was pretty cool (and stinky) to see the giraffes up close.

Bundled up and ready to see the animals...

Happy Birthday Papa

Friday we spent the evening with Papa celebrating his birthday. We had a quiet evening with pizza, cake and a game of Left Right Center. Papa was the big winner of LRC and won $14.

Papa and his boys, we couldn't get a picture of all of them looking at the camera.

Saddie

PapaMom called to tell us today that Papa lost another goat. Saddie was one of the original goats we got when Jessica and I were about 12 & 13. We had been to a petting zoo and after coming home had bugged dad to get us two baby goats. Aunt Mary Jo got in on it and said she'd buy the goats if we could keep them at our house. Of course we started out like every kid with a new pet and woke up early before school to bottle feed the little goats. Before long dad was taking care of the goats and they became his little project. A few years later we added a third goat to the mix and a couple years ago a friend's father had a goat he could no longer take care of, so dad adopted her. This past year both Molly and Sammy died, leaving the two original goats Sydney and Saddie. Now poor Sydney is all alone. Dad plans to get a new goat in the spring so Sydney isn't all alone, Jessica has started looking alredy.

It's snowing cookies?

My cousin Mike gets married this April, so while he is in from Germany and his fiance is in from California they thought they would have their bridal shower now. My Aunt Mary Jo asked me to make cookies as the favor at the shower, who knew it would be 90 of them!! My mom came out yesterday to help me. THANK YOU MOM, I'd still be in the kitchen if it wasn't for you.
