Memorial Weekend

Memorial weekend was rather quiet in the McFarland house. Gary and I spent Saturday night with some friends and BBQ at his parents on Sunday. Gary even managed to get some fishing in both Saturday and Sunday.

Last year on Memorial weekend Aunt Angie and Uncle Tim had a surprise for Aiden, a big stuffed dog. We took his picture with it then so I thought it would be fun to take his picture with it now to see how much bigger he has gotten.

That morning Aiden was sitting on the couch next to a pile of laundry that needed to be folded. He pulled out two of socks and insisted that I put them on. This is what he found.


On Monday I got up early and wanted to get some yard work done. We bought Aiden a new sandbox over the weekend and wanted to get that ready for him to play with too. While I worked outside Aiden and Daddy had a lazy morning lounging in their pjs.







Later that afternoon we went out to my parents house. I wish the purpose of the trip was for something fun but we had to visit the funeral home that day. But while we were waiting for my mom to get off of work to took advantage of trying out the new camera and getting some pictures at my parents.

Gary brought home a box from work the other day. It was as much fun for us watching Aiden play in as it was for him. It's now his little fort on the deck.







I love that last photo of him, his rosy little cheeks and just seeing his eyes peeking through the box.

It's tough being 1

It's tough being one sometimes. Aiden was having a lazy kind of day, hung around in his jammies most of the morning. Then had a little bit of breakfast. Played with his cars for a bit then sat down to watch Mickey Mouse Club House. I was working on the computer and noticed it had gotten too quiet so I peeked in the other room. This is what I found....

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a fantastic Mother's Day! We spent it at the zoo with family, my sister and her two boys, my mom and dad, my Aunt and cousin along with some of my sisters in-laws. We got tons of animal pictures before the camera finally died. Aiden had a great time, I would have to say his favorite moment of the day was chasing the seagulls at our picnic spot. Aiden and I took a ride to see PapaMom at the stand and pick up some flowers. While we were there Nana stopped by so we got to visit with her for a bit.

Baby Jake

Brye, Aiden and I went for a little road trip to Grand Rapids to see Baby Jake. Both Melissa and Jake are doing great. I got to test out what having a little one would be like with Aiden around. He did pretty good except the throwing of hot wheels, I was nervous he was going to hit the baby.

An Afternoon at The Mill Pond

Gary and I had a busy day of yard work. Aiden took a wonderful nap which allowed us to get a lot of stuff done in the yard. After we had come in and showered we thought we would head downtown to the mill pond before dinner. We brought along a loaf of stale bread to feed the ducks. We even snuck over to the Dairy Queen and had ice cream before dinner.

Reading

I found Aiden in his room reading. He had a few books pulled out and was sitting in his chair. He was having a hard time keeping the books on his lap and thumbing through them so I pulled up his little lap table. I left him to read and have some quiet time. All the sudden I heard him babbling up a storm in the kitchen so I went to see what was up. The book he was reading was about colors and it showed 4 objects per page that were that specific color. When I walked into the kitchen he came up to me with the book open to blue and his little finger on the picture of the blueberries. He ran into the kitchen because he wanted some blueberries.

Aiden has started jumping, ok he doesn't really get off the ground but he thinks he does. It's too cute!

Happy Easter

The Easter Bunny didn't forget Aiden this year. He was here bright and early to leave Aiden a little surprise. He left a trail of Easter eggs that lead to his basket.

We spent Easter at Papa Hillary's and Nana Grace's. Everyone was there. Aiden was a bit shy but warmed up to everyone after a while. Grandma wanted a family picture with the 9 of us, but Kyle wasn't much in the mood. We did manage to get a picture of the three boys before Kyle's protest.

Brush Brush Brush

Just thought I would share a little video of Aiden brushing his teeth after his bath last night...

I know something is down there....

Last night while getting Aiden's bath ready I let him run around "nekkid" for a while. At first I couldn't figure out what he was trying to do but soon figured it out.



Aiden was trying so hard to see what was down there. His little belly gets in the way and he can't really check it out. He even tried sitting down to see if that helped, that only made his belly stick out further. Finally he figured out if he stands up and places his hands on the floor he can see what's down there!

New Shoes

Aiden must be taking after his mom, because the kid seems to have big feet! My friend Carla (from my baby board) made Aiden these adorable shamrock shoes. I think they are fitting for a little McFarland!

St. Patrick's Day

We spent St. Patrick's Day with friends from Gary's work. Aiden got to spend the evening with Grandma and Grandpa. Aunt Angie and Uncle Tim stopped by to play with him while he was there. Here are a few pictures from last night.

Kirby

Everyone is always asking what Kirby is saying now. In the morning is the best time to hear him, he likes to go through most of his vocab as early as he can it seems. I got some video of him this morning, well I should say audio. I had to hide behind the armoire in the bedroom to get it. So there isn't much to look at but if you turn it up you can hear him talk away.





Note: After talking to Jessica, she thought Gary was home while I filmed that, nope. It's all Kirby. So that just shows how dead on he can get with voices. Gary will walk into the room sometimes aggravated and ask me what do you want. Sometimes he can't tell the difference between Me or Kirby calling for him.

Daddy Dressed Me

I was running around the other morning, late as usual, so I asked Gary to get Aiden dressed. Normally I pick out the clothes and Gary just has to put them on. I didn't have time for that this morning so told Gary to just pick something out. It does not look as bad in the picture as it did in real life. I guess in a man's head camo is just like jeans it goes with everything.

Boo Boo

Well we received our first boo boo that drew blood. Aiden and I went to pick Gary up from work before heading out to dinner last night. We got there a little early so we went in to visit. Aiden loves the paint store and as soon as he gets in there he starts running. Well he was running from Gary and fell. The crying was delayed, which always seems to mean it's something serious. At first I thought he bit his lip but it looks like a nasty case of rug burn across his lip. Last night he had quite a fat lip but after sucking on his binky for a bit it seems to have gone down.
