Happy Father's Day

We had a wonderful Father's Day weekend. Aiden and I started it off earlier in the week by making a little gift for Gary and the Grandpas. I cut out paper ties and the two of us colored them for the guys to wear on Father's Day.

We stopped by Grandpa Gary's on Saturday since we weren't going to see them on Sunday. Grandpa liked his tie very much.

Sunday morning Gary got a lot of yard work done before Papa, PapaMom, Aunt Jessica, Uncle Tony and the boys came out for a little BBQ. We ate and then spent some time playing outside. David and Kyle have been going to t-ball and learning how to play so it was fun seeing them hit the ball around. David has a mean swing, it was hard to get a picture of him and the ball in the same shot because he can really hit the thing. Aiden tried swinging at the ball a few times with the help of Uncle Tony but I think he had more fun chasing Kyle around the yard.

Uncle Gary broke out the scooter and SLOWLY and CAREFULLY took the boys for a loop around the yard.

I had this picture pulled out and sitting on the desk. Aiden saw it today and pointed to it and asked if that was Owen William. Nope, it's your mom. I still have to get a baby picture of Gary from his mom to compare.

Sorry it's so small, it was a wallet

The Great Debate....

It seems as soon as you have a baby the big question is who does he look like? I never seem to agree with people when they point out little features that belong to Gary or I. Lately I've heard how much Owen looks like Aiden. There are times I glance over quickly and can see what they mean but I think Owen has a look of his own. By now Aiden's eyes were turning brown and Owen still has those bright blue eyes (fingers crossed they stay). There is no doubt they are brothers but I guess I don't see the resemblance everyone talks about. I'll have to dig out a baby picture of Gary, myself and Aiden....

Mommy Moments

Having a second child really brought a rush of new emotions.   You instantly fall in love when you see that baby.  It's such an amazement looking  at those little fingers and toes and knowing that you made that.  With all that love comes a little guilt or worry.  Will you have enough love for two, will that first child feel left out?

Aiden has been my little man for two and a half years, it's been him and I at home during the day.  He has not had to share mommy with anyone.  I know there were a lot of people who were nervous how he would do with a new brother to share his mom with, but it was a moment like last nights that lets me know everything is wonderful...

Gary came home from work and Owen needed to eat.  It seems I spend most of my day saying, "Hang on, let me feed Owen first."  While I was feeding Owen Gary took Aiden outside for awhile.  I was just about done feeding Owen when I heard the back door open and the sound of little feet running inside.  I looked up to see Aiden rounding the corner with flowers in his hand.  He proudly came running up and handed me a purple phlox from the yard and half blown dandelion.  He quickly turned and was running out of the room as fast as he came in, but he stopped halfway out the door, turned around, ran back, and gave Owen a gentle kiss on the head.  Those two little gestures reassured me that I don't need to worry or feel guilty.  It's moments like that when I'm overjoyed to me a mom.

Just Like Daddy....

Gary has a love of magazines. It really doesn't matter what it's about he just loves them. Last night while Gary was laying in bed reading Aiden ran to his room for a book. He climbed up in bed next to Daddy and wanted to read too.

It's amazing what a difference a year makes. By next year I'm going to have to make the flower bed bigger...

Daddy's First Diaper Change

Well Gary finally changed Owen's diaper for the first time. When we brought him home from the hospital he said there was too much going on down there (circumcision and umbilical cord). So with everything healed daddy got his first diaper change in. Owen made sure to "celebrate" the big event by peeing all over once the diaper came off. Daddy did manage to get through the diaper change though.

Papa's New Goats

We took a drive out to Papa and PapaMom's house to see the new goats. Over the past year Papa has lost a few goats so it was time to give Sydney a friend or two. Papa had to keep them in the garage until he could fix the fence in the yard, the goats are so little they would fit through the fence.

Handy Manny

There is a cartoon on the Disney Channel called Handy Manny. He is a handy man with talking tools. Aiden now insists on pulling out his tool belt and hard hat everytime the show comes on. He is such a goof....

A Few More Visitors

Papa, Jessica, Tony and the boys spent an afternoon hanging out at our house. Papa finally got to meet Owen. Owen slept most of the day, Papa even snuck in a nap himself. David asked to hold Owen. I had to laugh that he didn't seem to be enjoying it but I think he was concentrating very hard on holding Owen.

Some Recent Visitors....

We have had a busy few days. Yesterday PapaMom came out and spent the day with us. She took us to the doctor to have Owen checked out then came back to cook us dinner and do a little housework I'm not allowed to do yet. Papa we can't wait until you come out to visit...

Then today Aunt Carolyn and Meghan came out to visit. While Aiden took his nap, Meghan took me out to lunch and Aunt Carolyn got her cuddle time with Owen. Thank you Meghan for lunch and thank you Aunt Carolyn for folding that basket of laundry....I just noticed!

Aiden had a great time playing with everyone. We even snuck a few pictures of him "loving" on his baby brother.

Working In The Yard

We have been trying to get as many things around the house done before our hands are full with a new little someone. Yesterday Gary and Aiden did a little work in the yard. There is a big hill on the front side of the house on the lake side. Gary has been digging some pretty big rocks out of the hill for awhile but decided to bring them all up yesterday.

Until now I have just been placing a few here and there in my perennial beds, but Gary's dad was here a weekend or two ago and started lining the edge of my flower beds with the rock. Looks like he's going to have to come back and work on the huge pile Gary dumped in the yard.

Aiden wanted to help daddy and went and got his wheel barrel from the garage.

Dang, don't you hate when the wheel barrel tips over? Daddy came and straightened him out and he was good to go again...

We also started another project yesterday. We want to put some wood ties around the swingset and put wood chips in so cutting the grass is a bit easier. The plan is also to add a big sand box to the one end. Once we started we noticed we didn't have enough wood ties. Maybe we can convince Papa and PapaMom to come out one weekend and give us a hand with this one...hint hint!
